ROBOTlove to close after 6+ years

We've got some sad news to report. After over six years, a move across town, and several spectacularly fun toy release parties, ROBOTlove will be closing its doors. This holiday season is your last chance to shop at the collectible and unique toy store as it's set to close its doors at the end of 2010.
It was announced early Wednesday morning that 2010 would be the last year for the northeast Twin Cities space. A little over six years ago the store opened up in the Lyn-Lake area of Minneapolis. In past years, ROBOTlove moved to the other side of town, sharing a space and collaborating with Pink Hobo Art Gallery and PUNY design team. Store owner and managing director of PUNY Kristoffer Knutson is citing the time commitment as the reason for the closing, and is looking forward to having weekends to himself for the first time since 2004. While it's sad to see the store close, Knutson plans to maintain his commitment unique art and retail experiences in the Twin Cities, so hopefully there will still be interesting happenings (albeit less frequent) in the future.
As we approach ROBOTlove's final days, the space plans to go out with a bang. Friday marks the opening of Black Market Friday, a curated pop-up shop featuring zines, screen-printed pillows, and artsy holiday items. The store will be open during extended hours this Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
