During the holiday season, many people have traditions they cannot do without. A certain heart-warming movie that must be seen before festivities can commence, a must-have assortment of cookies, a special song that no matter how cheesy will be played over and over again are only a few examples.

Watching a performance of A Christmas Carol is probably on scores of people's lists, too. But if you are tired of the same old song and Tiny Tim dance, something more fabulous and oh-so '80s is waiting: A Christmas Carol - The Golden Girls Remix is playing now over at Bryant-Lake Bowl Theater.

Presented by Theatre Arlo, A Christmas Carol - The Golden Girls Remix will be on tap this Wednesday and Thursday, with the last curtain call next Wednesday, December 15. A Christmas Carol by Dickens is indeed a timeless tradition, but the Golden Girls are just as capable of offering up some holiday magic too.

The Golden Girls get into the holiday spirit
When Sophia, a bit of a Scrooge herself, eats bad piece of pastrami, she's confronted with visits from ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. While learning the meaning of the holidays, Rose, Blanche, and Dorothy do what they do best: worry and eat cheesecake.

At the end of it all, audiences will surely be just as enlightened as to the meaning of Christmas had they seen an original Dickens performance instead. Or, maybe not. But who says the holidays can't have a little Golden Girls flavor added to the traditional stew? Same idea, just better clothes.

Tickets are $14 at the door, or $12 with a Fringe button. Showtimes vary between 7 and 9 p.m., and can be found online
