When naming of a few of your favorite things you probably don't always think of bright copper kettles, warm woolen mittens, or even whiskers on kittens. Instead, perhaps a few of your favorite things include artwork by local artists Xavier Tavera or DC Ice. If that is the case, then you are in luck. The latest exhibit at northeast Minneapolis's Gallery @ Fox Tax, "A Few of Our Favorite Things," features just that, and more.

Thankfully there will be no wild geese flying with the moon on their wings.

On view now through January 7, "A Few of Our Favorite Things" will open officially this weekend with a special holiday reception. The idea behind the exhibit was not only to showcase local artists and designers, but also to highlight some of the gallery curator's favorites.

For the show siblings and owners Alyssa and Mark Fox, and Emma Berg chose 10 of their favorite local artists, putting together their picks in three diverse and engaging salon style collages for the gallery. Some of the favorites are Jennifer Davis (Alyssa's), Xavier Tavera (Emma's), and Gregory Euclide (Mark's), as well as many others including Frank Gaard, Anne George, Robert Lesch, Andrea Stanislav, Bruce Nygren, and Broken Crow.

During the reception art enthusiasts will be able to purchase donated pieces from featured artists. Each will be gift wrapped and bought sight unseen for $100. All of the proceeds will be given to that artist's charity of choice--a great way to spread good cheer and support the Fox Tax Gallery's mission to make art accessible and affordable to all.

The opening reception for "A Few of Our Favorite Things" will be this Saturday evening from 6 until 10 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Who knows, you just might find another favorite thing to add to your own growing list.
