Do you sometimes feel compelled to spout poetry about the fair city of St. Paul? Are you a recent transplant with an interesting story about moving to the city? Do you have a recipe that everyone covets at the bake sale? Just have a really fun tale to tell about something that happened in town? Now is your chance to share; the folks at the Saint Paul Almanac are inviting people to send in their writing to for print consideration in the almanac's sixth edition.

Every year the organization collects poetry, essays, reviews, recollections, reminiscences, short stories, and other fun things concerning our capital city. Although professional journalists and literary heavy-hitters such as Garrison Keillor have been known to send in pieces, budding writers, children, new immigrants, and senior citizens have also had their works accepted for print.

The requirements are simple: Submissions must be under 600 words total, the central theme of your piece must be tied to St. Paul, and pieces must be received by March 1. Works accepted for the 2012 Saint Paul Almanac will receive a small payment, as well as the thrill of seeing one's name in print.

Submissions can be sent to Kimberly Nightengale at stories@saintpaulalmanac.com. For more writing prompts, additional guidelines, or more information, visit www.saintpaulalmanac.com.
