McKnight 2010 Screenwriting Fellows present work on Tuesday night

Before the big movie producers and red-carpet stars can even think about winning awards at the Oscars, screenwriters must first put an imaginative vision to paper. In order to help this process along, every year local organization the McKnight Foundation and IFP Media Arts award prestigious fellowships to two talented Minnesotan screenwriters.
For a chance to get a peek at what the 2010 screenwriting fellows have been up to, head over to the Loft Literary Center on Tuesday night for part one of the McKnighty-Nights presentations.
Tomorrow evening's event will commence at 7 p.m. and will be hosted by local screenwriter Jeffrey Hatcher (Casanova, The Duchess). The presentation is free and open to the public, and in addition to listening to some of the Twin Cities top-notch screenplays, bedtime snacks will also be provided.
Fellow Shelli Ainsworth's screenplay, Stay Then Go, is centered around a mother of an autistic son who struggles and makes sacrifices for him. Fellow David Erickson's work Bill-Land follows a fourth grade history teacher in Iowa who, in the face of home foreclosure, discovers his land is actually its own sovereign nation, which he vows to defend.
Ainsworth and Erickson will each present scenes from their screenplays, followed by a Q & A and audience discussion.
The McKnight Foundation also gives awards to two of Minnesota's top filmmakers. This year's recipients, Dawn Mikkelson and Dan Schneidkraut, will present their 2010 work on February 17.
