Caponi Art Park, a spring and summertime spot in Eagan filled with mind-bending trippy sculptures, has extra-reason to celebrate its spring opening next weekend. Not only will the park's founder, Anthony Caponi, be celebrating his 90th birthday that day, but Governor Mark Dayton has also announced that May 7 is to become Caponi Art Park and Learning Day.

The birthday party, which also serves as the seasonal opening for the park, runs from 1 to 4 p.m. During this time families are invited to snack on cake, enjoy the art sculptures, play Italian games, try out art activities, and take in performances. The day will also be marked by a special ceremony honoring Caponi (the park and the man).

Caponi Art Park is located in Eagan (1220 Diffley Rd.). For more information, call 651.454.9412 or visit www.caponiartpark.org.
