Free stuff alert: The Walker Art Center is extra free tonight
The weekly event, which happens every Thursday evening from 5 to 9 p.m., features special performances, tours, hands-on activities, the chance to view ongoing exhibits, and other freebies that won't haunt you when your monthly credit card bill shows up.
Tonight's event is extra free for those that get there early (hint: you just might score some free booze if you play your cards right).
Once the event begins, folks looking for free stuff should be sure to head over to the gift shop, where there will be a preview of Marc Newson's Pentax K-01 interchangeable lens camera. Pros will be on hand to give photography tips and invite guests to try out the new store item. Much like test driving a car there's an added bonus: The first 100 people to try out the product out will receive a free cocktail and a free memory card. Pretty nifty, no?
Other activities happening at the Walker tonight include a live musical performance from Colin Stetson, an unconventional musician who plays a variety of saxophones and the French horn. He's jammed with the likes of Bon Iver, Tom Waits, and TV on the Radio. He'll be performing three different sets in the Perlman Gallery.
Folks looking to check out David Zambrano's "Soul Project" this weekend will also be able to take in a sampling of what his dance troupe is about with roving performances in the public spaces throughout the museum.
