Eine's Tenderloin font
Local font designer, artist, and self-professed "alphabetician" Chank (a.k.a. Charles Andermack) has been creating readable, experimental, and downright awesome fonts for over 15 years. His extensive catalog currently boasts over 300 fonts.

Chank recently teamed up with Eine (a.k.a. Ben Flynn) to offer a new font, Tenderloin, available for free download.

Eine's profile shot through the roof a few years ago when Prime Minister David Cameron gifted one of his paintings to President Obama. The U.K.-based artist is known for his large-scale paintings and graffiti work which place emphasis on letter forms. "Alphabet City," perhaps his most visible work, featured bright bold lettering on buildings and shutters in London.

For Tenderloin, Eine designed and drew the general look of the letter shapes while Chank digitized them. The end result are two fonts which can stand alone or can be layered for a shadow effect (the upper case is fill, lowercase is shadow). The font's name comes from the its similarity to the lettering Eine used on a project in San Francisco's Tenderloin district several years ago.

Pretty neat, yes? The font is available for free download here.
