The Walker brings back mini golf this summer; is looking for artists
| A hole from the 2004 course |
Designing a miniature golf hole would be an interesting experience to add to a resume, wouldn't it? This summer, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a variety of fun activities and happenings. As part of festivities, the Walker Art Center will be hosting a nine-hole mini-golf course. But before that happens, the museum is looking for a few local artists to help design holes.
Have a cool idea? Submissions will be accepted through November 30. The theme this year is "garden," so be sure to incorporate that into your submission as well. Folks from a variety of careers -- including artists, architects, landscape specialists, and furniture designers -- are encouraged to submit designs. However, all artists or teams must be based in Minnesota, and a member of mnartists.org. Each selected hole will be given a $3,500 stipend to help pay for materials and time.
For more info, visit www.mnartists.org/golf. The course will be open from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend.
