Vagabond Vintage in Uptown needs your help to open

| Vagabond Vintage needs a jump start |
It started with a Facebook post to her friends as a call for help to save her dream. In preparation to open her store, Vagabond, at 25th and Hennepin later this winter, Angela "Gadget" Kreitlow amassed a colorful assortment of vintage furnishings. But as of this weekend she must host a sale of her collection (and everything she owns) in hopes to resuscitate her retro haven.

"I have dreamed of owning this shop for my entire adult life," Kreitlow says. "The idea really picked up this summer when I got the opportunity to lease a space I have lusted after since moving to Minneapolis 11 years ago to do hair."
Kreitlow, who is a stylist at Hairpolice, became a vintage fan early thanks to her mother, who would drag her and her sister to antique shops and thrift stores (Kreitlow's sister now owns a vintage shop in Buffalo).
"We didn't have a lot of money, so it was like a treasure hunt," Kreitlow remembers. "I'm not usually drawn to anything brand new anyway -- people are often so wasteful. We forget that things used to be made to last."

Kreitlow set up Vagabond to be an occasional sale boutique specializing in reclaimed vintage furniture and home decor. Many items have been refurbished and repurposed by Kreitlow herself. She hopes she can continue her passion but is calling on the city's thrift massive to aid the cause. "I'm not above asking for help!" she adds.
With support from her friends, boyfriend (local hip-hop artist Franz Diego), and social media to spread the word, Kreitlow's goal for the "fancy garage sale" is to be able to "raise enough money to pay the rent this month and hopefully have something left over to be able to re-stock in time for the actual store opening scheduled for February."
"I cannot think of anything I want to do more with the next phase of my life," Kreitlow says. "Down the line, I'd like to be able to offer classes on refurbishing furniture and simple home decorating ideas and projects. This is my dream and I am determined to make it work no matter how hard it might be right now."
