The Guthrie invites patrons to tweet during special shows

No, these actors aren't reacting to your distracting cell phone

Starting December 27, the Guthrie Theater will be offering a ticket that may appeal to smart-phone addicts. Folks who purchase "tweet seats" will be encouraged to use the social media app to talk about The Servant of Two Masters... during the show.

Audience members who loath the distraction of folks who use their cell phones during movies and performances need not worry. The phone-friendly section will be in a Twitter-only balcony, well-quarantined from the regular, Android- and iPhone-free seats.

Patrons interested in tweet-seat tickets can reserve a spot by calling the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224 and mentioning the deal. Twitter-friendly shows are during Thursday performances of The Servant of Two Masters, and cost $15.

This isn't the only show to encourage online interaction during performances; the Wits lecture/variety show series also welcome active tweeting, and sometimes even folds it into certain aspects of the interview portions of the event.
