In the spirit of Valentine's Day, for this week's cover story we talked to a dozen Twin Cities couples about how they met. However, we know that there are countless stories around Minnesota that are worthy of the romantic spotlight this February.

Whether you bumped into each other awkwardly at a museum or out walking the dog, we want to hear how you and your special someone kicked things off.

We might even give you and your super-special pal the makings for a romantic evening.

The top story will receive a $50 gift certificate to Fuji-Ya and two passes to the Walker Art Center. While you're there, make sure you swing by the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden for a quick make out sesh.

Keep it short. Approximately 300 words or less is an ideal length for your story. (We'd love to read your novel, but we can't post it here!)

Keep it clean. Or mostly clean... (You can spice things up a bit, but no excessive profanity or sexual content.)

Keep it real. Listen to mom: Honesty is the best policy, and we know your story is cool without fictitious embellishments.

Send your submission to with "HOW WE MET CONTEST" in the subject line by 5 p.m. Sunday, February 24. We'll pick some of the funniest, wackiest, and most inspiring stories for readers to vote on the next day.
