2013 Uptown Art Fair unveils commemorative print

Shane Anderson, Uptown Turnarond
Next weekend marks the 50th year for the Uptown Art Fair, an event that ranks second in attendance only to the Minnesota State Fair. As with any large event, there is official artwork. Festival organizers recently announced that Shane Anderson's Uptown Turnaround will serve as the commemorative print this year.

For the cartoon-style piece Anderson, an Apple Valley artist, has folded together a variety of images of things associated with the Uptown area, both past and present. References include sailboats on Lake Calhoun, rooftop bars and restaurants, retail businesses, the Midtown Greenway, and the defunct Uptown Bar.

The Uptown Art Fair runs Friday, August 2-4 and features over 350 artists, wine and beer gardens, live performances, culinary competitions, and family activities, and takes place on Hennepin Ave, from 26th to 31st Streets. For more info, visit uptownartfair.com.
