Free activities this weekend include ice sculptures in Rice Park, sledding (with free food and drink) on the East Side, King Boreas's Grand Day Parade (2 p.m. Saturday from Smith to Rice Park), and a snow-plow competition in Rice Park. More info at www.winter-carnival.com. Through Feb. 2. Many events are free; some have cover charges.
