Based on David Lipsky's 2010 book Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace, the film chronicles a five-day road trip Lipsky took with David Foster Wallace. Jason Segel stars as the late Wallace, one of the most critically acclaimed contemporary writers, while Jesse Eisenberg plays novelist and Rolling Stone contributor Lipsky.

The crew set up near the Third Avenue bridge in northeast Minneapolis, and prepped for scenes involving a van with a camera rig.

The End of the Tour crew was also spotted over the weekend at the Mall of America, where Segel and Eisenberg shot a scene in the middle of the mall.

Those are not celebrities. Maybe someday they will be.

btw I think these two guys sat in front of me and my kids! Was wondering why they left right after Segel spoke to the crowd.

To be honest, it was kind of scary for me to see a strange man come out from the exit and stand in front of the theater. It was very reminiscent of Aurora. :/

I linked to that above. It was a pretty awesome moment for that audience.

The filming made it almost impossible to get to your car on a higher levels of the parking ramp.

So this is why Jason Segel was at MOA last Saturday! He introduced himself to the folks who were there for the Family Flick.

Ann- they don't come here because we don't offer great tax incentives like other cities.

Does it occur to anyone that this sort of coverage is exactly why Minneapolis doesn't attract a lot of celebs and movie shoots? If we behave like gawkers and rubes, they'll regard us as gawkers and rubes.

But this is nothing compared to movie sets in NYC, Toronto, or LA, where they have to manage hoards of fans/gawkers/paparazzi while shooting on the street. In Minnesota, they just have to deal with a few curious people wandering through the same parking lot. Seems like a better deal, right? It's probably our lack of big tax incentives keeping film crews away...

@kurt124  You must live under a rock! Jason Segel was the star of the most recent Muppet Movie, as well as being one of the leads on the most popular sitcom on TV (How I Met Your Mother), he did one of the main voices on Despicable Me, and was in This is 40, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You, Man, etc. Jesse Eisenberg was the star of one of the biggest movies of 2010, The Social Network, as well as Zombieland, and he's playing Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman/Superman movie.
