This week we have free ice cream cones, a book event celebrating farmers' markets (yes, there will be food at this gathering), and a posh party to get you pumped up for spring. Come take a look and plan your week on the cheap.

Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day
(Area locations, www.benjerry.com)

Every year, Ben & Jerry's celebrates its birthday by offering free ice cream cones all day. This Tuesday, you'll be able to choose from all the tasty flavors, including cotton candy, butter pecan, Phish Food, and Cherry Garcia. Bring a friend to wait in line with you, because while the lines tend to move pretty fast, they can get pretty long. Minnesota B&J's include locations in St. Louis Park (on Excelsior near Whole Foods) and Wayzata. Tuesday.

Tricia Cornell

Are you excited for Minnesota farmers' markets to start up this spring and summer? There's plenty of recipes, ideas, and sources for inspiration in The Minnesota Farmers' Market Cookbook. This Wednesday, local food writer Tricia Cornell will be discussing tricks on preserving and selecting items found at markets, as well as touching on the 80 or so recipes from local chefs and farmers featured in the book, including green stews, pickled radishes, pies, salads, and more. Curious about where your closest market is? The publication also includes a map of all the different locations and happenings in the Twin Cities. No one will go away hungry from this gathering either, as recipe samples will be served. 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Celebrate Spring
(June, 3406 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis)

[Editor's note: This event was rescheduled from last Thursday.] Spring is technically here. And while we're have to wait and see if snow will return mid-week, the celebration planned at June this Thursday is optimistic. The south Minneapolis boutique offers vintage as well as new designer wares. This evening, the shop will be showcasing its spring finds and highlighting the work of a few visitors. Guests will be invited to check out hats from Ruby 3 by Anna Lee, and vintage, re-designed jewels by Shayne Barsness. Champagne and edible treats from the delightful Chowgirls Killer Catering will add even more fun to the party. 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
