Categories: Announcements, Art
Last summer, the Walker Art Center's Open Field took a break due to construction on the museum and surrounding area. This year, the lawn party returns for a season of really fun, really random activities.

Things kick off June 14 with the museum's participation in Northern Spark, a citywide nighttime happening that runs from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. At the Walker, folks will be able to check out ongoing exhibitions for free, play glow-in-the-dark volleyball, look into the future with Poetry Tarot, listen to music, eat at visiting food trucks, and more both inside and outside.

Open Field will close with a bang, as the lawn will host the insanely popular Internet Cat Video Festival on August 14.

Ongoing events during the summer will include the Tool Shed, where guests can check out games, art supplies, books, and sports equipment; Thursday night's Drawing Club, where folks can practice their art skills on the lawn; and Acoustic Campfires, where local musicians like Fort Wilson Riot, Orkestar Bez Ime, and Toussaint Morrison will stop by to jam; and more, as events will be added to the schedule during the the coming months.

Do you have an event that you believe would be a good fit for the lawn? The Walker is also accepting applications for gatherings ranging from groups of 10 to 100.
