(Editor's note: This weekend is Art-A-Whirl, the yearly art party where hundreds of studios, galleries, and warehouses in northeast Minneapolis open their doors and invite art lovers in for special demonstrations, exhibitions, performances, and sales. This week we'll be taking a look at some of the people and places you may want to check out.)

For the past couple years, the folks at MPLS/STP Clothing Co. have been sharing their Minnesota love through T-shirts celebrating all things about our fair state, including hot-dish dinners, Ricky Rubio, and Paul Bunyan and his blue ox. They'll be at Art-A-Whirl this weekend to help clothe people with state pride.

Your name: Katie Olson and Clint McMahon, MPLS/STP Clothing Co.

Where we can find your this weekend: Outside the Q.arma Building at 1224 Quincy Street Northeast.

Years spent in your current space: 2

Tell us about what you do and why:

We design and create T-shirts about Minnesota based on our experiences. One dollar of every sale is donated to a nonprofit in the community. The shirts are made in the U.S.: We use American Apparel T-shirts, the original artwork is designed by local artists, and our shirts are printed in St. Paul.

Name three things that influence your work right now:

Minneapolis and St. Paul, people in the community, and personal experiences.

Name three things that inspired and/or motivated you as a budding creative type:

Creative community, other start-up businesses, and Urban Bean.

What was your last big project?

Our spring line of shirts: Don't call them Twinkies, MPLS/STP, and Minnesotan.

What do you have going on now or coming up in the near future that should be on our radar?

We have plans for a pop-up shop, and will be expanding our product line.

How has the Minnesota scene changed since you began working here?

It's been fun to watch both St. Paul and Minneapolis change at such a rapid pace, from public transportation expansions, to new restaurants and bars, to awesome boutiques. It's a really fun time to live in Minneapolis.

In an alternate universe, you're invited to help create the Minnesota quarter. What image would you chose to put on it, and why?

A hotdish (no explanation needed).

The Minnesota motto is "L'Étoile du Nord," but what's your motto as a Minnesotan?

Stay warm, be nice.

Finally, are you doing anything special for Art-A-Whirl you'd like our readers to know about?

We're debuting a few new T-shirt designs and koozies. We'll also be running a $15 T-shirt sale on some of our older designs.
