Meet the Northern Spark artist: Rain Taxi's Poetry Tarot
Your name and your project's name: Eric Lorberer, with Rain Taxi's Poetry Tarot
Where we can find you this weekend?
We're hosting Poetry Tarot in the Garden Terrace of the Walker Art Center.
Meet the Northern Spark Festival: Andy DuCett
Poetry Tarot is going to be a moment of quiet in the crowd, a chance to divine your future in verse. Our carefully selected poets will use the Tarot to give each person -- or couple -- who sits with them a unique kind of poetry "reading." That is, they'll create a personalized fortune-poem for you on the spot. And yeah, you get to take it with you.
Is this your first time participating in Northern Spark?
No, we've participated since the beginning, doing projects large and small, crazy and calm. Each year is different; that's what's fun about it.
How long has RainTaxi been active in the Twin Cities?
Rain Taxi published its first issue in 1996, and started up doing live literary events in 1998.
Tell us a little bit about your organization:
Rain Taxi sparks interest in contemporary literary culture in a variety of ways. Nationally, we're best known for our award-winning book-review journal, while locally we produce readings and other literary events, including the annual Twin Cities Book Festival, a huge celebration of books and authors.
In addition to Northern Spark, what does your group have have going on now or coming up in the near future that should be on our radar?
You can catch our booth at the upcoming Twin Cities Antiquarian and Rare Book Fair later this June, and stay tuned for news about our fall kickoff event in September (though here's a hint: cat poetry!).
IF YOU GO:
9:01 p.m. to 5:25 a.m. Saturday, June 14
