Sad news for lovers of vintage today: Marc Luers, owner of Tatters, announced via Minnesota Monthly that the clothing shop will be closing soon. The store has been open since 1980.

Rusty Quarters Arcade to close this Thursday

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Last Friday, store owners Annie and Sage Spirtos announced via Facebook that Rusty Quarters Arcade will be closing its doors this week.

Mighty Swell vintage shop closes, hosts blowout sale

Mighty Swell, a charming shop offering vintage wares, is closing. The store, curated by bloggers Meghan McAndrews and Rae Dannemann, began as an online venture, eventually morphing into a series of hip pop-up happenings, then settled down into a permanent space. Though they are leaving their boutique space, this isn't the end for the business, as store owners have hinted that they have plans for something special in the fall.

Want to buy a business? True Colors Bookstore is for sale. This weekend, the current owners sent out the announcement via their events email list that the shop is low on funds. However, the business/space is well maintained and has potential (and is rich in local history as well).

Smitten Kitten closes its Denver store

It's a sad day when a female-friendly, sex-positive store can't make it work. Smitten Kitten's satellite store in Denver closed its doors this Monday. Despite hosting fun events, including a DIY pasties workshop and a lecture on real world sex versus porn sex, the store couldn't attract enough business to stay afloat. Where's the love, Denver?

Umber Studios to move to Oregon, throw one last party

While it's always sad to discover that a gallery is closing, at least Umber Studio's exit will be bittersweet: Though studio owner and artist Jessica Helvey will be leaving Minnesota in a matter of days, she plans to bring the artistic spirit of Umber with her to Oregon.

You can say bon voyage to the gallery space at a very special Valentine's Day party this weekend.
