Disguise yourself on the fly.
Sometimes Halloween just jumps out and surprises you. If you've been procrastinating and haven't found a costume yet, we know it's super tempting to go out to the store, find the ugliest, smelliest, most plastic-looking mask and call it a night. But believe us, Halloween can be so much better for you, even if you've only got a hour to plan.

These are costumes for those who are just too lazy, too busy, or just don't give a flying broom about Halloween (but still want to party without looking like a square). A lot of these costumes can be put together with stuff you've already got lying around the house.

Five cheesy horror flicks you should see

CheesyFlicks2013Halloween.jpg
Last week, we came up with a list of five streaming, high-grade horror movies that required your viewing, from haunted asylums and ghostly brides to gooey cave dwellers and flying succubi. But once you've got a taste, you need more. So we've risen from the dead to stage a horror-playlist sequel. This selection emphasizes works of a lower grade than round one: flicks that are cheesy and awesomely delicious. Don't expect Oscar winners or cinema pedigree here. Expect the enjoyable worst. Now, let's delve more deeply into the Netflix horror archives before the candy runs out and the fake blood dries up.

P.S. One of these choices will make you hate us.

Even though celebrations are just a few days away, you can still get your crafty side going and be the best dressed at the party.

Here are five Halloween how-tos (from sci-fi fun to old-school costumes) that require a little extra effort, but can definitely come to fruition before the witching hour with a little Halloween magic.

Five horror flicks you should see

FiveHorrorFlicks2013Netflix.jpg
As the skies gray and the leaves turn orange this season, our desire to watch horror movies -- to drench ourselves in silver-screen guts and gore -- becomes more pressing. We dream of zombie apocalypses. We long for a vampire's embrace. We flee in our nightmares from an infinite number of machete-wielding Jasons.

With that blood-curdling desire for terror in mind, we've compiled a list of five under-seen horror movies for your October pleasure. (Bonus: They're all on Netflix, many are available for streaming.) We hope you emerge from this playlist unscathed, with only a little psychotic lilt to your cackle.

Finding the right costume for your dog or cat is the most important part of the season, and can be the difference between having the most adorable/frightening/loveable Halloween ever, and spending the entire night of October 31 in your house alone, watching six straight hours of Hocus Pocus.
