Let the Asian food come to you at Taste of AAJA. Acronym not ring a bell? Chances are you're not an Asian American journalist.
Still, you can show your support for the Minnesota chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association through your stomach. A ticket to the event includes entertainment, a silent auction, and samples from area Asian restaurants. This means bogogi (marinated meat, rice, vegetable dish) from Kings Korean restaurant as well as more well-known dishes like sesame chicken and cream cheese wontons.

Nancy Yang, Taste coordinator for the event is particularly excited by samples from Sweet Basil, a Brooklyn Park Thai restaurant she's heard a lot of word-of-mouth recommendations for. Yang thinks that some of the food will be surprising to many of the guests, who like eating Asian food but tend to, "stick to Chinese". Restaurants participating include Camdi, a Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant, and Himalayan, a Nepalese restaurant.

Ticket purchases and donations go towards professional development for Minnesota journalists and to scholarships for high school and college students pursuing journalism careers. The event will take place on Tuesday Dec. 9 at the Minnesota Children's Museum in St.Paul.
