Every year, Rick Nelson and crew host their annual cookie contest,
whittling hundreds of recipes down to a handful of the most
promising--22 this year--and conducting a giant taste test. Do you recognize this finalist?
Yep, it's DFL state rep Phyllis Kahn, who
produced a lovely looking cranberry-pumpkin-seed biscotti. When she's
not busy forcing smokers to take their habit outside and helping
bicyclists keep their momentum, Kahn is actually a prolific
baker--she's won mulitiple State Fair ribbons for "guiltless"
cheesecake and "industrial strength" chocolate pie. Having once been to
a potluck at Kahn's place, I can also say that the woman make a killer latke.
The winning recipe, along with those of the five finalists are printed
here.
