Fish pedicures?

Americans are eating more and more seafood these days--but at some beauty salons, they're letting tiny carp do the nibbling. How's that for a role reversal?

Call me squeamish, but if there's one thing I hate about swimming in lakes, it's brushes with slimy seaweed and toe-nibbling fish. Ew! But some people are intentionally allowing tiny carp to bite the dead skin off their toes at salons that offer "fish pedicures."

According to the Minnesota Legislature Reference Library, we won't be finding fish pedicures here anytime soon. At their December meeting, the Minnesota Board of Barber and Cosmetologist Examiners ruled to prohibit fish pedicures in the state until such time that evidence shows that they meet current health and safety standards.
