Cargill rice facility threatened by Hugo Chavez

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ordered the country's National Guard to take over two rice processing facilities in the country over the weekend, and that number could grow.

Minnetonka-based food processing giant Cargill operates a rice plant in the western Portuguesa state of the country. However, news reports say it is not yet known whether the facility will be targeted.

Chavez, who recently cemented the possibility of an interminable rule, has accused the companies of underproducing in order to avoid price caps on their products.

He has been notoriously vocal in his opposition to multinational corporations and a key element of his leadership has been the nationalization of major companies.

This could get juicy.
