A 35-year veteran bartender at the Boston bar made famous by the television show "Cheers" was laid off recently. Business at the once-thriving tourist destination is "way off" the Boston Globe quotes bar owner Tom Kershaw as saying.

According to the Globe, bartender Eddie Doyle was a regular of the bar (then called "Bull & Finch") before getting a job there in 1974, and even met his wife there.

More than 150 comments have been posted to the Globe article, some sorry for the bar's loss of Doyle, but more than a few commenting on the tourist trap the bar had become and its subpar food and drink.
