Oprah's free KFC coupon sparks riots

• Eat only fish and tomatoes � chose from hake fillet or trout fillet. Again boil, bake or grill the fish, no fry. Eat fish and tomatoes as much as you want many times per day. Only salt and vinegar are allowed to add to the tomatoes. Drink at least 8 glasses of water.

• I love Oprah. She's such a sweet lady. Did you watch some of her older talk show and episodes? She was a real trail blazer. She had a hard life but made something of herself, admirable!

• I live in Fresno, CA. I was able to use the coupon once, and that was it. (I printed 4 maximum) The chicken was delicious, and I enjoyed my 1 free meal. however, the next day they stop accepting it? Who was the fucktard in the KFC Marketing dept, and why didn't they ANTICIPATE that hmmm, this coupon MIGHT BE POPULAR. Them running out of chicken was KFC's fault, and no one elses. Maybe next time they'll THINK before they TEAM UP with Oprah! This is bad business at its finest. I have lost all respect for KFC as a business due to their IRRESPONSIBILITY to keep their word about accepting the coupons, and will never eat there again. Bye bye Kentucky Fuckin' Chicken.

• so i work at kfc, and im totally glad that the free chicken day is over. Our store in illinois couldnt make enough chicken to keep up with the demand, and i had to stay about two hours later cleaning up the store at the end of the shift. people are absolutely crazy and i hope oprah doesnt try to pull one of these again.

• I complained to the BBB and received 2 -$5.00 gift certificates from KFC in the mail.

• This coupon is WACK. i am a current employer at KFC, and we DID run out of chicken.... this would be making no business for us, so i dont know what the hell oprah was thinking.. you will get a raincheck.. you fill out a paper, we take the coupons then you will get a REAL coupon, a couple days later. some people tried using this more than once when it should be one per visit and stuff. oprah is a joke with this free chicken.... you guys cant get mad about the food..... the economy is BAD, why give out a shit load of money when we need it already? you all have to look at the big picture and take a step in our shoes.....

• goodness! why are people so insanly insistant to get their free meal all on the same day? What is wrong with people? They are acting like they have a right to free food. I wish I could give them all a collective slap across the face for being so immiture. Children are starving in Africa but Americans demand their free food. Shameful! I calmly filled out the ticket for a voucher and will wait patiently for it to arrive in the mail. GHADS! Some people!

• Went to KFC that night, after waiting 3hrs for the site to free up, with coupon in hand and when I FINALLY got up to the counter (also waiting 45min) They told me that they didnt have Grilled Chicken... Needless to say the person behind the counter didnt speak English, I waited that long try this free chicken and get a coupon, and than even longer to wait in line to just be told that they werent going to make more.... I have lost all respect for KFC and thier franchise. Giving something like a free meal out and than taking it back bc of "overwhelming" demands.... What did you honestly think would happen???!!!! wtf is wrong with america... seriously

• First off, i got my chicken through the drive thru, in less than 2 minutes, like someone else said. Second, the website let you print out 4 individual/unique coupons, so you could've fed your family. Third, i went there 3 times with different coupons, i had no problems, until the day after the printing finished, and they gave me a raincheck. Even if they honored half of the coupons, it was still cool, think about it, a 4 dollar meal for FREE. Like my girlfriend said, there are coupons, and there are COUPONS, like this one. I never use coupons. The stores are overwhelmed, sometimes businesses do things and they don't anticipate the reaction/result that well, this was the case, nobody is perfect. And on a final note.. that chicken was GOOD! I gladly paid for it.. it really makes sense when they say "Unthinkfc", because it was good and healthy tasting and unlike the usual fried stuff.

• Thank you Oprah. I was able to print the coupon and redeem it at KFC on South Gloster Street in Tupelo, MS. The meal was delicious!

• There are two different kinds of stores. Ones that are CORPORATE OWNED and ones that are FRANCHISES. Corporate stores will get reimbursed. Franchises won't. Since franchises are going to lose money because they won't get paid, the reject the coupon.

• It would have been pretty simple to set up a website where you could pre-register a location, date, and time to prevent this hysteria. But then, it wouldn't have generated the press....

I can only imagine the smell of sweat and BO in the participating locations. I think Opra is trying to make an army of fat asses. • KFC I went to handed out rainchecks for the coupons.

• I went on wednesday, my friend and I got 2 meals inside, then went through the drive-thru and got 4 more.. lol. There was no problem at all, other than it being somewhat crowded by all the other people with the coupons. At the drive-thru they didn't even say a word about us getting 4 meals with only 2 of us inside.

• I was able to download the coupon. I tried a few times and after 2 hours, the servers finally freed up enough to do it. I guess they show Oprah in every time zone, so you had to hit the server before she dropped the FC-bomb (Free Chicken, Y'all!) on the show. The site said it was a limit of four downloads, but the coupon I downloaded was a pdf scan of a coupon taped to a piece of paper, so it didn't matter, I can print 1 or 100 copies. The next day my buddy tried to download it and it only let him download 3 and they had unique numbers, like a real promo coupon would. I've only tried it at one of three locations in town, I'm going to assume all three are honoring it. I've taken my three kids to KFC twice already with two sets of the coupon and they took it with no questions asked. They are limiting the sides to mashed potatoes and cole slaw, only. They're not even running the register or scanning the coupons. Theoretically I could get six meals a day by hitting all three of them at lunch and then at dinner. If I had the kids with me, I could hit them for 24 meals a day. If PETA gets ahold of this, they could put KFC out of business. :)

She only worries about looking like the angel and does not weight the consequences of her "generous" gifts to the public. While she's wasting her time giving out free coupons for chicken I wish that she would remember how long Chicago had her back and run some shows on these poor children being shot down daily and put some Black/minority mothers and fathers on her show for a change who are enduring these monstrous tragedies!And treat us like we count too-like she treats her Friday co-stars and anybody else other than a minority who has a child tragedy that wants to receive help.

• i work at a kfc as a cook/cashier/packer (might as well be a manager ) and the issue was that people were photo copying the coupons and getting absurd amounts of chicken. we just couldn`t handle that much extra business.we can only hold a certain amount of raw chicken due to space issues and with grilled chicken you can only cook 80 pieces every 20 minutes. for the actual stores it was a nightmare and most of us didnt know about it till the day before. basically we are not accepting any of the coupons at this time but if you come in with one you can fill out a short form and we will mail you a raincheck coupon and throw in a free drink for the trouble. just remember the employees are trying their best to help you so please be polite to us.

• Brought my coupon to the KFC on Broadway during dinnertime on the first day of the offer, they took it in the drivethru window and handed me my meal, took all of two minutes. Best free KFC I've ever had!

• I printed out my coupon and went down there and damn it was good. There was a big wait, and the store seemed well prepared. I went back today and they said I had to mail it in and they'd get back to me. They were swamped all day that day. North of Seattle.

• Bait and switch. Tons of KFCs are prob just saying they aren't participating. What a mess. I guess they figure like Barnum that any publicity is good publicity. I hope that all those that didn't get their chicken remember it. BTW, I like the fried chicken at Wal-Mart better. Faster. Less expensive.

• The KFC by my house in Ohio took it on the first day, but I found the whole experience to be sub par. I feel bad for the people working. They got a huge change of pace from the norm.

• yeah i got my coupon and it worked perfectly well. just make sure that there are watermarks on the coupon. however, this could be the case for only a few kfc that are participating. also, another bright idea is to call that KFC first and then go...rather than wasting your time and look stupid. but, overall, the coupon does work to an extent.

• I waited 45 minutes in a line of unruly customers, and couldn't wait any longer so I left without getting my food. Paying customers didn't have to wait quite as long, yet the manager on duty worked as slowly as possible to process the free orders. The manpower at the KFC closest to my home was very short. There was 1 cashier taking coupons and other orders, 1 person making orders, 1 person cooking chicken, and one person taking drive thru orders. Even though the food was supposed to be free, and I expected a line, my respect for KFC has dropped that much more.

• Ah, I love when sh!tstorms like this occur. And the best part is, Oprah gets her publicity, some high-level KFC execs get promotions and bonuses for the spike in popularity, and they go about their business. But in the REAL WORLD, there is rioting in the streets because the stores don't have the resources to provide the chicken, the managers are SCREWED because THEY HAVE TO BUY ALL THIS CHICKEN, if they close the store to avoid the rioting THEY get in trouble from their district manager, every one of those poor girls behind the counter will have a terrifying day at work, and most of the people with coupons will not get their free chicken. God Bless America, eh?

• There was a PDF on the site that had a list of the KFC's that were/are accepting the coupons. The one closest to my job is NOT listed but the one closest to my home, which is on the list, accepted the coupon with no problem.

• I went to the kfc on chicago and lake street in minneapolis and the drive up guy said they wasnt taking the coupons at their location
