Magic Bus Cafe sets up camp at Midtown Farmers Market

A dynamic, experienced cooking team has commandeered a 1978 school bus, refashioned it into a bright purple hot dog stand slash mini cafe and has been setting up shop Saturday mornings at the Midtown Farmers Market selling hippie-themed hot dogs, popcorn, and baked goods to marketgoers. The Magic Bus Cafe is manned by D'amico Catering's Chef de Cuisine Chris Lockyear, his wife Cathy, who is assistant deli manager at the Wedge, and her identical twin sister Chrissy.
The bus's main attraction is its all-beef dogs, which the cafe's website says are split, fried ("never boiled" -- is boiling hot dogs a bad thing?), then topped with various accoutrements like "psychedelic curry relish," garlic beet sauerkraut, and bacon. The dogs run from $3.75 for a plain dog to $5.50 for the "meet me in the morning" dog which is topped with eggs, bacon, and cheese. The bus also sells organic popcorn, cookies, coffee, and other beverages. Early reports are enthusiastic. Anyone out there been aboard the Magic Bus yet?
