Heavy Table just introduced its Atlas of Ethical Eating as a way to catalog the sustainability/social justice/environmental efforts of local restaurants and food purveyors. Businesses fill out a questionnaire in which they detail their establishments' practices in a variety of areas: organic dairy, sustainable seafood, local food, vegan options, composting, paying workers a living wage, and more. Right now there are just eight businesses on the list (Barbette, Common Roots, and Fire Lake among them...), but I'm guessing that many others will see the value of this simple-yet-comprehensive tool and sign on. It should be a real boon for ethically minded diners--commenters are already calling for an AEE iPhone app. Kudos to the HT crew!
