Learn cocktails from the masters at Bradstreet Craftshouse
Mixing a great cocktail can be its own sort of art form, and no one knows that better than the mix masters at Bradstreet Craftshouse. Now you can learn from the experts when Bradstreet teams up with the adult-education playground Studio Bricolage for a three-part series of classes called "Mixology:The Art and Science of Drink."
The first session, "Cocktail Basics," takes place Saturday, December 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. It will delve into the history of the cocktail (including a sample of a pre-cocktail punch from Colonial times), introduce you to the basic tools of the trade (shaker, muddler, jigger, etc.), teach the science behind fermenting and distilling, and, not least, impart a few lessons on making great drinks. Perhaps best of all, students will get to sip a few choice samples of gin, rum, and whiskey from the Bradstreet bar.
Two more sessions are planned after the new year: "Liquors, Liqueurs, Garnishing" and "Building Better Bitters." The introductory class is $45 in advance or $55 at the door (though space is limited). You can sign up or get more information here.
