Man, who is it exactly that reports places for illegally selling out-of-state beer? A Manhattan bar was busted and fined $20,000 recently for selling Spotted Cow, the popular ale brewed by Wisconsin's New Glarus Brewing Company. According to the blog Gothamist, the New York State Liquor Authority was tipped off about the illicit activity by "an anonymous wet blanket tipster" -- ha! Authorities subsequently confiscated 50 cases of the contraband beer at the Mad River Bar & Grille on the Upper East Side. New Glarus is only licensed to sell its brew in its home state of Wisconsin.
