RIP: Tejas

Rick Nelson offers more details about Tejas impending closing, December 30th. After 22 years in business, owners Wayne Kostroski Mark Haugen say a rent increase is the cause for the closure and that they may consider reopening at some point in a new location. Nelson credits Tejas for successfully lobbying the city of Edina to change its draconian liquor-license laws, which helped pave the way for places like Edina Grill and Salut to serve cocktails.

"There was concern that there would be drunks roaming the streets, but guess what? People in Edina are still in bed at a reasonable hour," Kostroski said with a laugh.
