Interested in trying Scotch eggs on the cheap? Feel like sampling whiskeys without regretting it when the tab comes? Miss those old days of waking up in the gutter with a lost shoe after slamming several Irish Car Bombs? This week Cork's Irish Pub in downtown St. Paul is celebrating their new look and menu by hosting live music, drink specials, and food deals at prices that look like they came off of McDonald's $1 menu.

The bar, located in the Embassy Suites (175 10th St E, St. Paul), is throwing a week-long shindig now through Friday, December 12. Guests can try appetizer versions of Scotch eggs and corned beef for only $1, plus Irish drinks, whiskeys, and taps at half price (prices vary, but beers like Guinness and Boddingtons will set you back $2.50). Irish Car Bombs will be $3. Not familiar with the drink? Traditionally it involves a pint of Guinness and a shot glass with Irish crème and whiskey. Drop the shot into the beer, and drink quickly before the pour curdles.

Other events happening throughout the week include a pub trivia night this Wednesday starting at 9 p.m. hosted by Martin Devaney, a free wine tasting Thursday night at 7 p.m., and half-priced Scotch Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
