France 44 celebrates 50 years with 50 beers

France 44's ushering 2009 out in style by offering free tastes of 50 brews this Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m in honor of the South Minneapolis store's 50th anniversary. The shop says:

What's old is new again. Beer, humanity's first tipple of choice, is the hot topic these days. And why shouldn't it be? After all, there is more innovation and experimentation happening in beer today than at any time in history.

To put some icing on the cake, the shop will also be offering samples of a number of different cheeses that pair well with beer.

Here's a taste of what you'll be able to taste at the event:

  • Chimay (Belgium)
  • Kasteel (Belgium)
  • St. Peter (England)
  • Rogue (Oregon)
  • Boddingtons (England)
  • Ichtegem (Belgium)
  • Lindemans (Belgium)
  • Lagunitas (California)
  • Corsendonk (Belgium)
  • Monk (Belgium
  • Zywiec (Poland)
  • St. Feuillian (Belgium)
  • Avery (Colorado)
  • Widmer (Oregon)
  • Taj Mahal (India)
  • Schneider (Germany)
  • Boulevard (Missouri)
  • Gulden (Belgium)
  • St. Bernardus (Belgium)
  • Breckenridge (Colorado)

The tasting will represent less than four percent of the beers France 44 offers -- damn!
