Mickey's Diner in Forbes
Either Nye's or Mickey's Diner are perhaps tied for first place as the most notable MN restaurant landmarks, as both show up frequently in the national press. Fresh off a mention in Playboy, Mickey's was recently cited by Forbes as one of 10 Uniquely American Meals, though the writeup was a little bland, as if penned by someone who'd never even set foot in the place:
Nothing about Mickey's Dining Car in St. Paul, Minn., could be more all-American, from the structure resembling a classic train car, to the Midwestern setting, to the unpretentious attitude, wholesome comfort food, and reasonable prices. Breakfast all day (three-egg omelets, hash browns, endless coffee) or feasts of hamburgers and thick malts are the stuff of nostalgia.
