New Years Eve, foodie-style
RAUCOUS PARTIES
1. Hotel Minneapolis & Restaurant Max
Hotel Minneapolis' is hosting a 'Mad' New Year's party, riffing on Mad Men's 1960's creative culture, a time when, they say people "knew what to wear, drank provocative cocktails, had witty conversation, and practiced discretion about their considerable indiscretions." Partying starts at 8 p.m., with the New Standards playing, from 9 p.m. to midnight, but the best way to enjoy the night would be the Hotel's "The Total Experience" package that combines the party with pre-celebration three-course dinner menu inspired by the era at restaurant Max (w/new exec chef Kevin Kathman) and an overnight in the hotel for $299 per couple.

The W's hosting a *free* "White Out" party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. with the idea of starting the new year with a clean slate--wear your whitest attire, pop into one of the confession booths and fess up to your sins, etc. The party is best combined with their "Smooch, Sleep, and Save" package (room, valet parking, 3 p.m. late check out for $209, promo code NYEVE) and brunch at Manny's the next morning.
