Though it got edged out by the likes of Build-A-Bear, Men's Wearhouse, and Mattel, Golden-Valley based foods manufacturer General Mills still made Fortune Magazine's recent "Top Best Companies to Work For" list for 2010.

The maker of Cheerios, Haagen-Dazs, and Lucky Charms, rang in at No. 90, rising from its previous ranking at No. 99, but still down from 2008, when it was ranked No. 67. "What Makes it Great?" Fortune says?

Family-friendly benefits abound at 143-year-old food purveyor (Cheerios, Yoplait, Progresso, Betty Crocker), where 800 employees are married to a co-worker.

Infant-care center at headquarters was expanded by 43% last year to accommodate 60 infants; company subsidizes 25% of the cost.

Other food related companies on the list include Whole Foods, J.M. Smucker, Publix Super Markets and Wegmans Food Markets.
