SpaghettiOs creator dies

Categories: News

The Campbell's executive who created the universal childhood comfort food SpaghettiOs has died, according to the Associated Press. Donald Goerke, a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, was a marketing research director in the early 1960s whose group came up with the idea of the mealy canned pasta rings swimming in tomato sauce, a concept that became an instant hit with kids for being as much fun to play with as to eat. Goerke died of heart failure on Sunday at his home in New Jersey at the age of 83, but his legacy lives on, now with meatballs, sliced hot dogs, and even other letters of the alphabet.
