Drink of the week: Camp's Pomegranate Martini

With more and more new places popping up everyday Downtown St. Paul is really getting into a groove. With lights twinkling, ice skaters gliding, and historic buildings surviving and thriving, utilizing, everyday brings one more reason to cross the river, or to stay put if you reside in rockin' Ramsey County.

And Camp Bar is an ideal Downtown St. Paul drink stop--lit by crystal chandeliers and candles, decorated with original artworks, filled with sharply dressed folks sipping under the spinning light of a ginormous disco ball --the rotating shadows of said ball creating a full blown Donna Summer-vibe; Camp is fun and bright.

Also fun and bright is their cocktail menu which offers martini choices galore. My fave was the Pomegranate Martini. Made with both pomegranate vodka and juice, freshly muddled lemons, all given a vigorous shakin' and served up and icy cold--these simple elements are mixed melodiously. This cocktail is sweet, lush and oh-so-drinkable. As a sucker for nice glassware, their low rider martini glasses just add to the pleasure.

Like I said, St. Paul has got it going on.
