You know how some people dive into a can of mixed nuts just for the cashews or grope a big bowl of Chex mix solely in search of those little rye toasts? Eating Birchwood Cafe's cobbler feels sort of like that, only you're desperate to secure every bit of everything. If you're eating a juicy slice of peach, you immediately begin digging for all the peaches. If you've spooned up a bite of the shortcake, you proceed to push aside all else in pursuit of it. And the whipped cream? Forget about it. It sort of feels like having some type of brief, mini-OCD. And then it's all gone. The flavors change frequently, but always features at least two and often several different fruits, with an emphasis on those in season. Cherries are popular, as are berries (blackberries, raspberries, blueberries) and peaches. Here's to a little old-fashioned cobbler-induced temporary insanity!
