Cocina del Barrio: Coming Soon

The intersection of 50th and France is about to get a little bit edgier. The folks behind Barrio Tequila Bar are planning to open a sister location at the chichi Edina shopping and entertainment mecca sometime this summer according to the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal.

Lest it frighten too many good, law-abiding Edina residents, the restaurant will emphasize food, including an expanded menu, rather than the impressive tequila selection that serves as the centerpiece of the two existing Barrio locations. The name itself suggests the new spot's tamer intention. Rather than just being named the more street "neighborhood" it will be "kitchen of the neighborhood."

And Cocina del Barrio isn't all that's in store, the Journal reports.

Barrio general partner Ryan Burnet said Cocina del Barrio is a better fit for the Edina market and also will give the company more flexibility as it prepares to grow beyond the Twin Cities--something it plans to do shortly after the third location opens.
