No. 57: Saffron's Mini Lamb "BLT"

Saffron stopped serving lunch a long time ago, but the kitchen held over the Lamb "BLT" for its afternoon and late-night happy hour menus. The sandwich is a four-bite beaut: the crisp, gamey, house-cured lamb bacon is more like jerky than belly, for those who get the willies from undercooked fatty stripes, and the jam adds a concentrated, sweet/tart kick that's cooled by a layer of arugula and tempered by toasted white bread. Price tag? $3.50. We'll have another.
