Schweigert dogs are the new Dome Dogs
Haven't tried 'em, but it seems fair to presume that the Twins' new contract with Cargill subsidiary Schweigert for hot dogs at the new stadium is a pretty lateral move from Hormel, alliterative "D" names and all. Twin Cities Business reports there will be four different kinds, with one one of them -- the Big Dog -- meant to replicate the Dome Dog:
• Original Twins Dog: A traditional pork and beef hot dog made from the same recipe as those that were served at the team's first ballpark, Metropolitan Stadium.• Twins Big Dog: A quarter-pounder that will replace the hot dog formerly known as the Dome Dog and be served at portable grills and select concession stands throughout the stadium.
• Dugout Dog: A pork-and-beef hot dog that will be sold in the stands by vendors during all home games. These hot dogs will be steamed in vending boxes and then placed in a bun when ordered, instead of being pre-wrapped.
• Dinger Dog: An extra-long pork and beef hot dog that will be available at select Hennepin Grille locations.
The dogs will be manufactured at a facility in Albert Lea. Cargill is based in Wayzata.
