Summit releasing third Unchained beer, an India rye ale

First was a German-style Kolsch, then a Scottish ale. Today Summit's rolling out the third beer in its "Unchained" series, an India-style rye ale.The new beer, developed by brewer Mike Lundell, includes two ingredients never before used at the brewery: spicy rye malts and Citra hops -- a new type of hops developed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. The IRA, as it's being called, is the third beer in Summit's "Unchained" series, which features beers invented by individual brewers based on their personal interests and preferences.

If you're dying to get a hot-off-the-presses taste of the new beer, the only place offering it today is Jersey's in Inver Grove Heights. Otherwise, the IRA will be rolling out a number of other places in the next couple of weeks though. Beer specs and more roll-out deets after the jump:

Malt: Harrington, Rye, Crystal Rye, Chocolate Rye Malts and Flaked Rye
Hops: Summit, Citra
Yeast: American Ale
OG: 14 Degrees Plato
IBU: 60
ABV: 6.3

Wed., March 3: Burger Jones in Minneapolis at 8 p.m.

Thurs., March 4: Muddy Pig in St. Paul at 6 p.m.

Fri., March 5: Tracy's in Minneapolis at 7 p.m.

Thurs., March 11: Shamrock's in St. Paul at 6 p.m.
