Texas barbeque, Mario wedding cake and pesto pizza
Continuing my weeks of travels, I was in Des Moines for my day job, and thanks to a friendly recommendation for good eats I finally had a chance to stop by Proof. Open only for lunch during the week (and dinner on Fridays), the space is bright, open, and inviting. When I saw the soup of the day was a lettuce bisque, I dove right in. Aside from the addition of cumin (which I consider to be the most overused spice in America), the soup was delicious and velvety and made for quite a pretty picture if I do say so myself.
