Cake Eater Bakery quietly opens this Saturday
After years of over-iced, artificially-colored, super-sweet, grocery store cupcake tyranny, we love that the Twin Cities is experiencing a Renaissance of sorts with this tasty treat. Cake Eater Bakery is our latest addition to the growing cupcake revolution. Some may already be familiar with their sweet cakes; co-owner Sheela Nammakal has been pleasing crowds with Miel y Leche Catering at gallery openings and events like Gastro Non Grata over the past couple years. This Saturday, she and co-owner Emily Harris will open their doors in a low-key soft opening party for friends and neighbors.
According to their latest press release the Seward bakery and coffee shop, located at 2929 E 25th Street in Minneapolis, is described as a "rock bakery with a Bollywood-meets-Marie Antoinette theme." Confections include scones, cakes, cookies, and around 150 different varieties of cupcakes. Flavors include chocolate malt, peanut butter and jelly, Mojito, and the Elvis, a banana cake with peanut butter and marshmallow buttercream topped with a crispy bite of bacon (how's that for a different take on the cherry on top?). The coffee brewed will be Chicago's Intelligentsia. We're also excited to hear about upcoming cupcake happy hours.
Cake Eater Bakery celebrates sweets this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a small-scale opening for neighbors, friends, and the curious. Come check out the new space and sample some treats. The store will be in full-throttle mode Monday, April 5 with weekday hours 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
