Fisher's Club: Now Open

​In case you haven't already caught on, it's officially road trip season in Minnesota! In addition to the Boxcar and Schumacher's, one of my favorite spots for destination dining is the Fisher's Club of Avon. It's an old-fashioned supper club on the shores of Middle Spunk Lake, near St. Cloud, most notable for the fact that it was purchased by Garrison Keillor and a few others back in 2005. Consequently, it's also quite highly regarded for its rhubarb pie, but I also like it for its fish fry, its small-town atmosphere, and the fact that they let the regulars BYO hard alcohol and leave it on-premises in a bank of lockers. If you're itching to get in the car and drive, Fisher's Club opens for the season today!
