Bar Abilene, smack in the center of Uptown, is another place to go when you can't decide where to spend happy hour. Serving some of the city's best margaritas, this ever-popular bar has a swell sidewalk patio where you can sip. The $2 appetizers come in generous portions, and if you order a few you may be able to skip dinner. Since their weekday happy hour lasts till 7 p.m., you won't have to rush over after work to make it on time. Their discounts are gracious, too, with select drinks half-price, many bonuses (Thursday is buy-one-entree-get-one-free all evening long), and extended weekend hours. The atmosphere in this Tex-Mex hangout is boisterous, especially late: Think skinny jeans and multiple tequila shots. The ideal place to start an "I was just going to have one drink" story.

Thursday, 4 p.m.-1 a.m:

buy one regularly priced entree, and the second is half price. Free salsa dance lessons from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. and live DJ from 8 p.m.-close.

Friday, 4 p.m.-2 a.m.:

free guacamole with the purchase of one entree with a movie ticket stub (limit one). Live DJ Friday and Saturday, 10 p.m.-2 a.m..
