Venue: The Herkimer has a relaxed atmosphere and a distinctive lack of 'tude. It never sucks to hang out here. The fact that they brew their own beer is a definite bonus since you can try a new German style lager at each visit. Another special bonus at the Herkimer--the shuffleboard court.

Verdict: This is a perfect go-to happy hour when you cannot decide where to go. The appetizer menu is extensive and drink choices are so inviting. The fact that this is a brew pub is good attraction as the selections are always changing. Sitting on the sidewalk after work, sunglasses on, table full of beverages and snacks = win. The 2 for 1's make this happy hour ideal for splitting--try ordering the bloody mary and beer back (X 2) and do shareskis. Recommended apps: sweet potato fries with chipolte ketchup, Szechuan green beans, fish and chips w/pint. Not so much: vegetable basket--crudites are not drinking food.
