World Cup must-have: hot sauce

It's not surprising that World Cup soccer teams have very specific diets while playing in the largest sporting event in the world.

What is, however, a little wacky is that those pre-game grocery lists include throat-searing items like extra hot chili sauce, tubes of Wasabi paste and Nando's Peri Peri sauce.

Fabio Capello, manager of the English national team, wants his players nice and spicy for game time because such foods act as natural anti-inflammatory aids that will keep bruises and swelling at bay.

Hot peppers and chilis have long been credited with an extensive list of health benefits ranging from improved mood to pain relief, which means setting aside the Jaffa cakes and crisps has plenty of upsides for the British squad.

England's first game is against the U.S. on June 12, and the team has already shipped items like organic chocolate, pine nuts, seaweed and peppermint tea to South Africa to round out their diets.

If you're interested in eating like Wayne Rooney or Peter Crouch, here's a helpful shopping list to get you started.
